Alan Brock
Associate Clinical Mental Health Counselor
Alan is originally from American Fork, Utah, but has lived in several western states, the Maryland/Virginia area, and in England. His primary focus is on creating a healing, safe, and inclusive space where clients can better identify and understand who they are.
Alan’s approach integrates an understanding of the nervous system and personality, exploring how these can influence decision-making, and ultimately drive personal choices. Together, we will explore autonomy, empowerment, choice, and change. We will also address trauma and take a holistic approach to help individuals feel their best and gain a deeper understanding of themselves.
Alan is dedicated to fostering an affirming therapeutic environment for clients from diverse backgrounds, with the goal of promoting healing and growth. Building individual confidence will be a central focus of our work together. With a broad life background, Alan has experience working in addiction recovery, severe mental health conditions, trauma, performance-based anxiety, and faith transitions. He also brings a deep understanding of and experience with the LGBTQ+ community. Alan earned his bachelor’s degree from Columbia College of Missouri and his Clinical Mental Health Counseling degree from Liberty University. Additionally, he received his EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) psychotherapy training through the EMDR Humanitarian Assistance Program, specializing in PTSD and both complex and single-event trauma.
Outside of the office, Alan enjoys composing music (as part of The Smooth Scales Project), playing basketball or frisbee, and riding his motorcycle. He may also be hiking in the Uinta Mountains, Sierra Nevada range, or when time and money permit - the Himalayas. If he is not there, you may find him exploring new restaurants to discover the latest culinary gems with his family. Therapeutic Approach: I utilize a variety of therapeutic techniques, including EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and mindfulness practices, depending on your individual goals. EMDR is particularly effective for those who have experienced trauma, anxiety, or depression, as it helps reprocess distressing memories and reduce emotional charge. I also specialize in helping couples build communication skills, strengthen their relationship, and resolve conflicts.
I am deeply committed to providing a safe, supportive, and collaborative environment where clients can feel heard and understood. My ultimate goal is to help the client achieve emotional balance and live a life that aligns with their values and aspirations.
Who I Work With:
Children & Adolescents: I help young people manage emotions, build resilience, and develop coping strategies to navigate life’s challenges.
Adults: I support individuals in working through past trauma, managing anxiety or depression, improving relationships, and enhancing overall well-being.
Couples: I guide couples through difficult periods in their relationships, focusing on communication, conflict resolution, and fostering deeper emotional connection.
Performance Professionals: If you are looking for ways to increase performance, whether it be sports, music, acting, or other related endeavors, there are techniques that can be utilized to support you in the pursuits. And, assist you in delivering your best performance.
